“Dog Warden Alert”
“Dog Warden Alert”
This is the text I received from Tiffany who was working the front desk on Tuesday. She was letting me know that the PA Dog Warden had just pulled into our parking lot. We get 2-3 surprise inspections a year. These really aren’t anything I tend to worry about, because I know we are maintaining a top-quality, premium facility. But it does tend to throw off our day, as it takes a fair amount of time to pull the records he needs to see and wait for him to finish his site inspection, so we’re always relieved when we can get back to our standard routine. We passed with flying colors – of course – except…one thing: rabies certificates. Please see the image here for an example. As you know, we require all of our pet parents to provide proof of current vaccination for rabies, distemper, and bordetella. We have been happy to accept vet receipts, vet reminders, medical records, and other relevant documentation other than the rabies certificate, to serve this purpose. However, the Dog Warden has advised us that this practice does not comply with the law, and that we will be cited for a violation if we have not corrected this and begun to enforce receiving rabies certificates by the time he comes back for his next inspection. So we’re reaching out to you for help. In the coming weeks, we will be contacting you if we do not have the official rabies certificate for your pet on file. In the meantime, if you are able to proactively provide this, we would appreciate any head start we could get. If you do not have a copy, your vet can provide one, and is more than welcome to email a copy to us directly, to [email protected]. Please feel free to check with us if you are not sure if you already provided this, and if you believe you have already provided this, then there’s nothing else we need at this time. Thank You! |
