We Didn’t Know What To Do, Until Now
We have been heartbroken since Sunday. The shooting in Orlando ripped our hearts out. The amount of pain that one man caused to the victims and their families, the LGBT community, America, and the world is nothing short of horrifying.
We honestly didn’t know what we could do as a business, especially as a start-up business with limited resources. But we stand behind our values in the way we operate, and that includes being responsible to the community in which we live and work in, and to the world community as well. We must be good citizens, support good works and charities, and bear our fair share. We did find one way the pet community could contribute in a small way. A small supplier called Mirage Pet Products (www.miragepetproducts.com) has made a compassionate decision – in a newsletter to their customers, its management stated:
“Since Sunday, our sales for Pride and Patriotic merchandise have skyrocketed. It seems unthinkable to profit from such a tragedy so we won’t be. Until the sales for these items return to normal levels, we will be donating all profits – all of the profit, not just a percentage – from these products (Pride and Patriotic) to the PulseVictimFund.”
Love My Doggy Day Care will be making some purchases to support Mirage Pet Products in this effort, and I thought it might be something some of the pet parents in the Love My Doggy Day Care family might be interested in joining us in, so that we can stand in solidarity with our family in Orlando – so we’re passing it on. It’s a small gesture, but isn’t love about the small things?
As an individual consumer, you will not be able to view prices or purchase directly from Mirage – it’s a wholesale supplier to businesses – but if you’re interested in any of the products, please just let us know, and we’ll be sure to include it in our order (and we can get you the pricing information of course). We are aiming to place our order by June 30th.
Bark Out Loud!
